Click to expand.Speak for yourself. If you come from a hardware setup the price tags on sequencers are quite welcoming. I think the most ridiculous thing people say is when they imply that they need waves (or warez in general) to make music.
Even if they did, it still wouldn't justify it, but who seriously NEEDS waves? Most of the DnB pioneers were lucky to have 2nd hand mid-entry gear. A synth, sampler, and some effects at most was most often the case, and this modest setup would still cost a couple times what you can buy today (which will also allow you to do 5457 times more).
I'm not being nose-up or high horsed here: the entire concept of piracy boggles my mind. These developers wouldn't even make the product you are using if they weren't getting paid for it. So why do people not pay for it? It is blatantly biting the hand that feeds you.

So not an hour after last looking at this thread I got a little visit from the Waves fairy. I knew we had an appointment with a label guy from Canada today who wanted a place to mix a bands album but the whole thing got a bit strange. He came in and wanted to make sure we were going to be compatible with thier session. (not an unreasonable request) He asked me to open a Waves R compressor and show him which version it was. He didnt really care what outboard we had or even want to hear some of our work. He then told me that the project was tracked at the Hit Factory in Miami and that he was sent by the label to find a studio to mix at.
The MV2 High Level Compression function is comprised of compression with. All Waves demo licenses run for 7 days and require activation on a computer. IMO there are ways to use waves plugs to help learn which 'knobs' color or distort. I think hands on is a good way to start. I'm not sure which plugs you are using, but most of the Waves comps have a 'mastering preset'.which VERY generally MAY be a good starting point on a 'rock' song.
He mentioned that he had been to over 200 studios in his years which I thought was pretty much absurd (there is no reason anyone on earth has ever been in 200 studios!)I didnt even put it together until he left because I was busy mixing and working on something but about 10 minutes after he left it dawned on me. I told my business partner 'he is never coming back'. I then showed him this thread and various others on the topic. One thing I do feel good about is that I happened to stress to him that he should stop using the Waves stuff and use McDSP because it shits all over the Waves products.:badger.
Waves plug-ins are designed for mastering, information, compression, equalization, emulation of analog instruments and meters. In this distribution, plug-ins (in the amount of 518 pcs) ONLY format VST2 and have a bit capacity of 64 bits only! All unnecessary was cut, including the STANDALONE application, as well as Soundgrid and all modules for it.
